It’s been weird to prioritize myself while trying to lose weight this spring. I can’t afford a new wardrobe and was running out of things that fit. I couldn’t cut calories any further because I’ve been existing on low-cal for so many years. What I did do was completely eliminate everything chemical, add 2-3 servings of fermented foods per day, and add 4-5 servings of raw fruits and veggies per day. So that means a lot more nutrition value. I’m down about 20lbs in 6 weeks and have so much more energy. :) No “branded products” here!!
Yes! Husband lost 60 lbs calorie counting and tracking using the free version of the lose it app. I’d like to have more kids but always have gestational diabetes. I hope losing some weight and being active will help with that in the future since I’m always borderline 🫣. Thanks for the (common sense) encouragement!
“Nothing you put in your body can do the work for you.” Well put. This is a different sort of problem but after being prescribed aspirin due to a history of preeclampsia. I decided I didn’t want to wait and see if it worked for me. I proactively changed my diet (this looked like gaining weight and eating whole foods) and I believe it’s what kept me from developing it during my second pregnancy. Especially after meeting someone who developed HELLP syndrome while on aspirin. Anyway, all that to say, your health is in your own hands. A pill might help but the individual has to take the initiative.
Really needed to hear this—the part about our bodies doing exactly what they’re designed to do (“be prepared by its daily training to do exactly what it’s called on to do most often”), not the MLM bit. But I lost a ton of weight (150lbs) after I had my 5th baby and turned my health around completely. When I had my 6th baby at age 46, I gained way more than I ever had in a previous pregnancy, and I haven’t bounced back as well as I expected considering my vastly improved health. My back & core muscles really suffered and I have struggled to lose weight or engage in any activity. But I recognize I’ve been training my body to continue on this trajectory rather than getting back onto the other one.

That was me; last three pregnancies were GD. I wish I'd been more proactive, but here I am!

100% Sometimes we need help. But we will never regret taking the necessary steps top do our part for our health!
Thank you for sharing! I enjoy reading what you have to say.
Very very good word. Thanks for sharing your story.
Would you share some of the fermented foods (including brand names) here?
