We Missed You This Past Weekend!
I wish everyone could have been at the inaugural gathering of the Quilting Circle!
Let me start by saying this: I purposefully limited the number of attendees for the in-person Quilting Circle gathering. It was by design that only a handful of ladies spent the weekend here in beautiful East Tennessee sharing our stories, exchanging wisdom, and encouraging one another towards the goal of walking closer with Christ as we serve as wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends.
I wanted an intimate group; but truly, I wished that all of the lovely friends I’ve made through social media could have been present to graze on goodies (we never had a formal meal time!) and be part of the conversation.
Over the two nights we were together, we discussed:
Our legacy as mothers— complete with stick figures of our children, potential grandchildren, and onwards.
Protecting our children from predatory adults in our own extended families.
How the trials and traumas that Satan says disqualify us from being good wives and mothers can actually be blessings to our families.
Honoring our own parents while navigating the nuances of “leaving and cleaving,” even decades on.
Working with learning issues in our homeschools.
…and so very much more.
In a perfect world, I’ll be hosting another Quilting Circle Gathering this fall. However, the Lord may have other plans. I have surgery scheduled for early next month and anticipate a lengthy recovery. I’m also heading our new co-op in the fall, and, naturally, my husband’s travel schedule will end its usual summer hiatus. So we’ll see how much extra I can spoon onto my plate while still being the wife and mother I long to be to my family.
If fall isn’t in the cards, next spring will see our second gathering. It may be slightly bigger, but it won’t be more than 10 or 12 ladies. The beauty of a small group is the transparency and the forging of true relationship. I saw that in action this weekend, and I am excited to see how God continues to use this ministry of fellowship in building up a legacy of Titus 2 women!
In Christ,
Heather
