Study 1 Thessalonians With Me!
"He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:24
Some books of the Bible are just quotable. They are so rich with gems designed to direct our days (and our feet) that the nuggets jump out at us and bury themselves in our hearts.
1 Thessalonians is one of those books. And it’s the next book we’ll study together via my IG stories.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The beauty of study 1 Thessalonians is, in part, gaining context for all of those one-off verses rattling around in your brain. Sure, you might know the above verses about prayer and thanksgiving, but context adds a dramatic underlining; chapter 5 is about the second coming of Jesus!
The themes of 1 Thessalonians are more relevant today than at any other time in my life, I think. Hope in Christ. A defense of ministry. Imitating those found to be bearing fruit in Christ. Sanctification. Faithfulness. Walking in the Word. And oh, yes— Jesus’ imminent return.
We’ll dive in for five weeks, digging deep into one chapter each week. Repetitive reading (or listening!) will bring an intimacy with the text that you’ve likely never experienced before. Historical notes, cross referencing, and discussion questions that invite you to seek the Holy Spirit’s leading are all part of what you can expect.
For those who’ve participated in one of my studies before, I’m including the 100 Chart below. Don’t be intimidated! Not everyone reads the book 100 times in the course of 5 weeks… but some do! A complete, start to finish listen of the entire book clocks in at 9 minutes and 28 seconds. Pop it on while your kids are in the bathtub, while you’re washing dishes, to start your drive to the grocery store, or whenever you have ten minutes. Pick up your Bible and read pieces as you sit throughout the day. You’ll be shocked at how many read-throughs you can tally, and how those words sink deeper and deeper into your spirit.
I encourage you to join in even if you’ve struggled to complete a Bible study in the past. There is abounding grace here, friends. The goal is simply to read God’s Word in community as wives and mothers who know the value of the practice, but might often find ourselves too busy to see the glimpses of time God has given us to spend in His Word.
It all starts tomorrow, September 3. Invite your friends for in-person accountability, or simply join in with the online community. Either way, I look forward to studying alongside you throughout the next few weeks and learning more about God and His Word.
In Christ,
Heather
