Oh, I had great plans for getting this to you, friends. Great plans, indeed. But as I am reminded every time I open the Word, man’s ways seldom line up with the timing of the Lord.
This update was supposed to have reached you last Wednesday, a comfortable distance from December 1. And then, well, if you follow me on Instagram, you know— last week was spent in Kentucky praying firsthand for my stepmother as she battled her way through the fallout from multiple strokes.
This was not how I expected to begin the month of December. Maybe your Advent season is off to a bit of a rocky start, too. Maybe you’re looking ahead at the next four weeks and wondering how you can muddle through with any semblance of the spirit of joy that is supposed to permeate our heart’s preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth.
I’ve got you covered.
Sometimes, all it takes is one small moment of stepping back and forcing your eyes to rest on something other than the next thing. This calendar is simply a list of 25 ways you can find a small pocket of joy this season. Share it with your family, or do it alone. Choose to cross off every day, or just reach for it when you’re finding it hard to tap into the why for your house being upended and your rhythm skipping one too many beats.
I hope this blesses you as you serve your family, and seek the Lord. Maybe, just maybe, a few sparks of joy in December will ignite a fire of contentment that burns throughout 2024. Couldn’t hurt to try, right?
In Christ,
Heather
